New Williams breaks out in 2nd eval period

2015 G New Williams (Santa Monica HS/Earl Watson Pangos Elite) had a breakout performance during the second July evaluation period. This past Sunday at the Pangos Rising Stars Showcase, Williams impressed many with his athleticism, vision, and jumper.

This past Sunday at the Pangos Rising Stars Showcase, one of the most impressive performances came out of 2015 G New Williams. The 6'1 combo guard impressed many college coaches with both his athleticism and point guard vision on the court. His impressive weekend earned him offers from San Diego State, Loyola Marymount, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Rhode Island, New Mexico State, and Northern Arizona.

This summer Williams has been playing with Earl Watson Pangos Elite, one of the top AAU teams in California. On top of that, the 2015 guard has been playing up a division with the 17u's, playing against the top 2014 recruits in the nation. During the AAU circuit Williams has been really working hard to improve his point guard skills, "I'm really working hard on improving my court vision, I want to be able to get my teammates better on the court."

In college Williams plans on playing the point guard position, "In college I want to play the 1, right now I'm developing as a point guard, because now I'm more of a combo guard."

Williams still has a while until he makes his college decision, and he is in no rush, "I'm going to be patient, I want the right situation, and the right time. I'm in no rush." Although the young guard out of Santa Monica does have a few things on his checklist for a potential school, "I want to sit in with the team, and be close with the coaching staff. I'm open when it comes to location, so I'm going to choose a school that fits me, somewhere where they can work with me and have a playing style that works with the strengths of my game."

Other schools that have shown interest in Williams include Kansas State, St. Johns, UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, Boise State, and Arizona. Williams plans on participating in the upcoming Loyola Marymount Elite Camp on August 4th, and will be in Las Vegas this week playing in the prestigious Fab 48 tournament with Earl Watson Pangos Elite.
