Loyola Marymount Elite Camp review

Summary of the players that stood out during the Loyola Marymount Elite Camp.

Loyola Marymount Elite Camp

A lot of promising 2015 and 2016's were present for the Loyola Marymount Elite Camp on August 4th 2013. Players from Maryland to down the street in Redondo Beach were there playing hard in hopes of impressing a coach. Here's a breakdown of a couple players who stood out:

2015 G New Williams (Santa Monica HS) – Williams really showed off his athleticism and bounce during the skill development stations, multiple times dunking with ease. The 2015 impressed many with his athleticism throughout the games session as well. One play Williams literally floated in the air for a couple seconds then dishing off to his big man teammate for the east assist. Williams is expected to take unofficials to San Diego State and Loyola Marymount this week, and already lists offers from LMU, SDSU, Pepperdine, Arizona State, San Francisco, Oklahoma State, Rhode Island, New Mexico State, and Northern Arizona.

2015 G Tommy McCarthy (La Costa Canyon HS) – McCarthy came off a huge week where he picked up 3 more offers; Rice, Loyola Marymount and Brown. Already owning an offer from San Francisco. The sharp shooting guard was on point throughout the entire camp, making his shots as well as finding his open teammates. Ran with Earl Watson Pangos Silver this summer, and expect him to break out even more throughout his high school season.

2014 G Kyron Cartwright (Compton HS) – The speedy guard from Compton showed off his agility all day throughout the camp. His team did not lose during the games session, beating every opponent on the center court. Held his own vs both McCarthy and Williams. Got to the rim a lot, and kept his point guard composure throughout the camp. Cartwright recently took an unofficial to Cal State Northridge, one of 4 schools that have offered him (Loyola Marymount, Univ of San Diego, and Cal State Fullerton).

2015 G Robert Lewis (Compton HS) – Lewis was the most impressive player at camp, making three's every game as well as getting to the rim. Lewis is built at 6'2 and was obviously more muscular than most the kids at the Elite Camp. Cartwright would penetrate then kick to Lewis for the wide-open three, hitting at least 3 to 4 of them. The lefty guard from Compton can play the point guard position or off ball as well. Expect Lewis to really break out during his high school season.

2014 C Terrell Carter (West High School) – Carter overpowered most of the kids at the Elite Camp, being much bigger than most. Intimidating at 6'7, 240, and was dominant in the paint. Has solid footwork and should begin to pick up offers after other big men begin committing. Carter averaged 13ppg and 11rpg this past season at West Torrance.

Other Impressive players:

2014 G Jackie Davis (Rolling Hills Prep) got to the rim easily, a 6'3 point guard with length. Penetrated then hit a couple step back jumpers, lists interest from Santa Clara, Portland, Pepperdine, and Utah.
2014 G/F Dillon Reise (Ocean View HS) – The Lengthy lefty looked great during skill development stations. About 6'5, can play the 2 or 3. Averaged 15ppg and 8.7rpg this past season at Ocean View. Lists interests from Utah State, LMU, Northern Arizona, and Cal Poly SLO. With Kendall Small transferring to Mayfair HS, expect Reise to take control of the Ocean View team.
2015 C Jimbo Lull (Rolling Hills Prep) – The 6'10 center looked solid during skills development, didn't play during the games as a precaution for his recovering ankle. Should be a force during high school season paired up with Jackie Davis. Averaged 19ppg and 13rpg this past season.
