RB McCain Sticking with Commitment to SJSU

It's an unwritten rule in recruiting that a player commits to a school, rather than a person. In real-life, however, that is often not the case. Players and the coaches recruiting them form tight bonds centered around trust. When coach leaves, a recruit sometimes follows. Is that the case with running back Jalynn McCain, one of the top commitments in the 2012 recruiting class?

San Jose State fans aren't strangers to the fact that recruits form such a close relationship with the coaches recruiting them, that when that coach leaves for another program, they'll follow. Such was the case with quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels, who in 2009 decided to stick with quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo to Wyoming.

Now that Kirk Doll has moved on to East Carolina, what becomes of the players he was recruiting for SJSU? One of the more highly ranked recruits is running back Jalynn McCain of George Bush High School in Sugar Land, Texas.

He told Inside Sparta today that he is sticking with his commitment to the Spartans, as well as which member of the SJSU staff has taken over for Doll as far as keeping in contact with him.

"Yep, I'm still with SJSU" he said in a text message. "Offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is now my recruiter."

McCain added that while he hasn't received any new offers, Wyoming, Ole Miss, and North Dakota are seeking to get official visits from him.
