Ex-Spartans QB Faulkner Named MVP

Ex-San Jose State quarterback Matt Faulkner made the most of his final collegiate football game, earning MVP honors in the Casino Del Sol All-Star game played Monday in Tuscon, AZ.

Quarterback Matt Faulkner, who led an improved San Jose State football team in 2011, finished his college career in style. He was named the MVP of the Casino Del Sol All-Star game after going 24 of 43 for 240 yards and one touchdown in leading the Striped squad to a 24-21 victory Monday in Tuscon, Ariz.

In a twist, former Fresno State head coach Pat Hill led the Stripes team. Faulkner transferred to SJSU after playing for the Bulldogs.

Faulkner is no stranger to last-minute comebacks. In a flashback to the Spartans come-from-behind win over Hawaii. Faulkner threw a 13-yard pass to Minnesota State's LeMark Brown with 22 seconds left in the game to secure the win.
