Spartans Land an Out-of-State Big Man
When Inside Sparta spoke yesterday with offensive lineman Evan Sarver of Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz., he said he had narrowed his choices down to two schools and wanted to sleep on things before making a decision today. He pointed out the pros and cons for San Jose State and Fresno State, and it appeared to be a dead heat going into the night. As promised, today he made his pick.
"I had to make peace with all the coaches who had been recruiting me before I went public," Sarver said in a text message to Inside Sparta. "I have committed to play at San Jose State University."
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Sarver chose SJSU over his other finalist, Fresno State, and had also reported offers from Air Force, Arizona State, and Northern Arizona.
Sarver took his official visit to San Jose State in December, and was at FSU last weekend. However, the time away from 7th and Alma had not diminished his memory of SJSU.
"It just feels like the that's where I need to be," he said. "I talked to my parents a little but in the end I went with how I felt in my gut."
Sarver is the 19th Commitment for SJSU in this recruiting class, with less than a week to go until National Letter of Intent Signing Day.
