Fresno State lands talented SoCal WR

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey wide out Delvon Hardaway has been committed to San Jose State since early December but opened up the process following a coaching change. Sunday morning, the athlete decided he was headed in a different direction.

Delvon Hardaway recently narrowed his choices to San Jose State and Fresno State after receiving an offer from the Bulldogs a few weeks ago. The receiver took his official visit to FSU this past weekend and committed Sunday morning to the Bulldogs.

"I'm excited, it feels good to be a Bulldog," Hardaway said. "It's funny, the first night there, Friday night, I really wasn't feeling it. Then I had a long talk with Coach DeRuyter and he broke things down for me. It was a great talk and after that, I really started to open up to the place.

"Fresno is different than Los Angeles but I like it. It's more of a college town and everything shuts down during Bulldog football games. I met some great people and really got along well with the players and coaches. Ron Antoine is the receiver coach and he's a good guy, I like him a lot and he'll be a good coach for me."

Hardaway said the biggest reason he made the switch from San Jose State to Fresno State was the offense.

"Fresno State runs a wide open spread type offense and throws the ball a lot," Hardaway said. "I think I would do really well in that offense and it will be a lot of of fun to play in. I also like the opportunity to play early and the depth chart lines up pretty good for me.

"It was a tough decision and I liked the new coaches at San Jose State too. I just felt like Fresno State was the best overall fit for me. I think I'll do well there and I'm happy to have this all behind me and I'm ready to sign on Wednesday."
