Jordan Jackson recaps SJSU Junior Day visit

Three-star defensive end Jordan Jackson of Bishop O'Dowd High School discusses his junior day experience at San Jose State.

Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd defensive end attended San Jose State's junior day last month. Though he was not able to attend in its entirety as he was due back in Oakland for his prom that evening, he did get an idea of what SJSU has to offer. Jackson detailed his experience:

"I got to see the weight room and take a couple pictures with the jerseys on," Jackson said. "The coach, Arnold Ale, knew who I was right away. One of the coaches is my O’Dowd’s cousin, Coach Ron English’s cousin. I took a picture with (English), talked with the head coach who sounds like a really cool guy. I got to run on the field and get the whole debrief and hear about the APR scores, education, a hype video, I thought that was really cool. They introduced all the coaches, I met the Bay Area recruiter, the position coach, went in the weight room. It was a really cool experience. We got to tour the campus, though they were doing some construction so we didn’t get to see everything. It was still informative." asked Jackson about his recruitment prior to his visit. At the time, Jackson said he knew "nothing" about San Jose State. Here's what he said about the program after seeing it first-hand.

"What I learned about the program itself is that the coaches are really serious about their jobs," Jackson said. "Everyone does their part to their team and does their obligation to the team of what you’re supposed to do. The strength and conditioning coaches are really high on the technical stuff and the movements rather than being able to bench 500 pounds or something. They focus on the little things. How do you do things and if you can’t how can you make yourself capable. They focus on nutrition and set you goals for everything."
