Spartans lose 2016 signee - 3-star offensive lineman Mikey Grandy of Palo Alto HS

Grandy will go the junior college route rather than to San Jose State.

San Jose State will no longer be expecting the arrival of one of its three-star recruits this summer - offensive lineman Mikey Grandy of Palo Alto High School. He recently informed the staff of his change of plans. Grandy, who signed a Letter of Intent to the Spartans in February, will instead be heading to College of San Mateo and hopes to land back with an FBS program.

“I talked it over with my family and we decided academically it would be best for me,” Grandy told

SJSU Head Coach Ron Caragher said of Grandy on signing day, "Mikey is a big, physical and athletic offensive lineman," SJSU Head Coach Ron Caragher said. "We see Mikey playing tackle, but he has the ability to play all five O-line positions." subscribers can read more on the situation here:
