As I look back to the 2002 SJSU football season, and consider how close the team came to finishing 8-5, and one play away from a bowl birth, I look forward to 2003 with much optimism.
Coach Hill had another banner year in recruiting, going up against the big schools and winning his share of caliber players such as we have never seen before.
Consider also that he increased the scholarships from 61 to 71, and is in position to award the NCAA limit of 85 full scholarships in 2004!
I have been following SJSU football since 1975 and I do not think the team has ever had 85 scholarships.
THE FUTURE FOR SJSU FOOTBALL LOOKS ROSY!
With the first game scheduled for August 23rd, against the Tigers of Grambling University, it is time to start preparing for the QBC membership renewals, and of course, the dinner meetings!
The venue for the meetings has changed from the "Three flames restuarant" on bascom ave in Campbell, to "Lou's village restuarant" on San Carlos street in San Jose. Only 2 miles from campus!
The room will now be larger, more comfortable, and better suited for the QBC meetings. It is also an elegant setting that is affordable for all fans and boosters, and gives everyone a great view of the main podium!
We will continue the tradition of inviting and interviewing athletes, and scheduling interesting key note speakers!
The UNR QBC meeting will be on the thursday one week prior to the game. And a meeting will be held the thursday before we go to Fresno state to beat up on the bulldogs!
QBC meeting dates are as follows:
11-13- Fresno St
Get these dates booked into your calendars and be ready to be "entertained".
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Joe Griego- QBC President
