San Jose State Spartans partner with adidas

San Jose State announced Thursday that its athletics program has signed a six-year partnership with adidas. It is the first partnership of its kind for SJSU. Shown above is an example of adidas's recent work at North Carolina State.

San Jose State athletics and the famous three stripes of adidas will go hand in hand for the next six years.

A release on Thursday announced that adidas "will be the official athletic footwear, uniform, apparel and accessory brand of the Spartans." The deal begins on July 1 of this year and runs through the 2022-23 academic year. It is San Jose State's first "all-school, comprehensive, department encompassing partnership with a major sports apparel company," the release said.

San Jose State's adidas gear, including uniforms, footwear, apparel and accessories, will make their debut this fall.

San Jose State Interim Director of Athletics Marie Tuite said in a release, “This is a touch-point moment for San José State Athletics. Our partnership with adidas provides our 20 sports programs with a consistent look in a quality worldwide brand and first-class apparel that will increase the awareness of San José State. There are many testimonials from major colleges and universities on adidas’ diversified product lines and its superior service to its clients.

“There will be one look for San José State Athletics and our student-athletes, coaches and staff will look like the first-class program we exemplify.”

Added SJSU head football coach Brent Brennan, “I’m really excited adidas decided to step up and support our entire athletics department here at San José State. I’ve seen what they did with the re-branding at Arizona State in terms how they outfitted those teams, their look, and creating a look, an image and a brand that is cutting edge, which is something I am very excited about. I know they will do a great job taking care of our players.”

adidas is partnered with more than 100 collegiate programs including Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina State and Texas A&M. SJSU is the first Mountain West school on that list, however.
