Michael McFadden added a career-high 20 points as the Spartans (3-2) defeated Cal Poly for the 13th time in 15 meetings.
San Jose State is off to its best start in eight years, while the Mustangs (0-4) are off to their worst start since moving to Division I in 1994.
Chandler recorded his second straight double-double and the fifth of his career.
The Spartans jumped out to a double-digit lead in the second half and maintained a comfortable margin throughout. They never trailed after an early 2-0 deficit.
The Mustangs put themselves in a hole early. Derek Stockalper scored 48 seconds into the contest, but Cal Poly missed its next 16 shots.
San Jose State scored 16 unanswered points, with Chandler contributing 10, and led by as many as 15 in the half.
The Spartans shot just under 29 percent from the field, allowing Cal Poly to creep within 26-20 by halftime.
But it was all "State" in the second half, as SJSU just out-manned the ponies of SLO.
