Spartan thunder strikes TWICE in a 90-85 Rice win!

Marquin Chandler puts on a clinic, and his 33 points and 12 rebounds were just too much for the Rice Owls to contain at the events center on saturday afternoon. The Spartans have won 2 straight. (Guard Alex Elam above).

SAN JOSE, Calif -- San Jose State bellowed out some "Thunder" and struck Rice 90-85 Saturday afternoon at The Events Center on the SJSU campus.

the Spartans (6-12, 3-6 Western Athletic) won back-to-back conference games for the first time in more than three years

The first half was all Rice, however, and at one point took a 45-36 lead.

SJSU then reached back far inside (to a place we have not seen consistently all season) and commanded the second half.

Center Mike Misko fouled out, and the Spartans were destined to go with a smaller line-up.

But it paid off!

Marquin Chandler put on a clinic, and his 33 points and 12 rebounds were just too much for the Rice Owls to contain.

It also was his eighth double-double to boot!

Michael McFadden threw in 17 points, Alex Elam added 10 assists for his first double-double.

Matt Misko's 12 points all helped the chargin' spartans thunder to a win.

San Jose State is now 6-12 overall, and 3-6 in WAC conference play.

Could this be the beginning of a "hot" run for the Spartans?

Stay tuned, as Spartan Thunder may strike yet again!
