Spartans Beat Boise State 62-51 for 3rd WAC Win!

Tariq Abdul-Wahad, formerly Olivier St Jean, saw his jersey officially retired during half-time ceremonies!

SAN JOSE- Brandon Hawkins had 16 points as San Jose State defeated Boise State 62-51 to hand the Broncos their sixth straight defeat in WAC matchup Saturday night.

Bronco forward Abe Jackson led all scorers with 18 points, but the team shot only 35.3 percent from the floor.

Andre Valentine added 15 points for San Jose State (8-15) and Marion Thurmond led all players with nine rebounds.

The Spartans used a 14-4 run in the early minutes of the second half to grab a 33-23 lead and never relinquished it.

Boise State (8-13) threatened late in the game to close within six, 46-40 with just under four minutes remaining. But Thurmond made four successive freethrows to break up the Broncos' late rally.

The two teams were tied at the half at 19. Boise State's Jackson led all scorers with 13 points on five-of-nine shooting while Hawkins led the Spartans with seven.
