Gunderson High's James Jones Update

Coach Fitz Hill also signs Mills quarterback, Adam Trafralis. This recruit threw for 1500+ yards in his senior season!

James Jones, a 2001 first-team All-Central Coast Section choice from San Jose's Gunderson High School, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent with San Jose State.

Jones, slated to be a wide receiver for the Spartans, was a quarterback his senior season and was responsible for 24 touchdowns, 11 rushing and 13 passing on offense, and three TD's on defense and special teams.

Jones lead his team to a league championship while at Gunderson High School.

This kid will play a crucial role with SJSU, as he is versatile, quick, strong, and a multi-position player.

Jones weighs in at 6 foot 2, and 180 lbs. Jones was also a Mercury News all news selection as a senior when he rushed for those 11 TD's and threw for another 13 TD's. He also returned two kick off's for TD's and had an interception returned for a score as well.

Gunderson Coach, Jody Carrasco was quoted as saying "SJSU is getting a fantastic kid who is very coachable". "He stepped in as quarterback and learned a very complex offense and did a fantastic job. The best thing he brings is his ability to listen and get along with the players. Hhe has no ego".

Another QB, Adam Tafralis of Mills has signed as well, but will not enroll until january. He will join the 2003 squad.

Tafralis is a 6-2, 235 pound QB who threw for 1500+ yards as a senior. He completed 27 of 47 passes for 458 yards and 7 TD's in a play-off loss to South SF last season.
