"Getting to this point just means I've been a round for a long time and have been fortunate to have a lot of good people around me," said Sam Piraro regarding his 500th win. "You shouldn't look at it any more than that I've really had the opportunity to work with some great assistant coaches and have had some outstanding players over the years."
"We've played really well in both games this weekend and have had two fine pitching performances," notes Piraro on the last two wins at Cal Poly. "We had a great week of practice and it really shows this weekend. We've been solid and haven't made any mistakes."

"He showed why he's one of the best pitchers on the West Coast", Cal Poly coach Ritch Price said of the Spartans ace, who entered the game with a 1.52 ERA. "He brings the experience of being a four-year starter, and it showed tonight."
"Cal Poly is the best hitting team we've faced," San Jose State coach Sam Piraro said. "Jeremy kept a great hitting team off balance tonight."
