"I had a lot of family support," said the 6-4 247 Jermaine Williams in an interview to Devils Digest this afternoon. "I wanted to get it out of the way and focus on the season. It was really always between and Arizona, and I always favored Arizona State. It wasn't my plan to commit before the begining of the season, but I saw how much they wanted me so I decided to commit. I feel real relieved this is over."
As a defensive end, the Maryvale standout collected 80 tackles and 12 sacks during his junior year, and was a first team all-league selection on defense. Williams is also an accomplished fullback, as he rushed for 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns. Earlier this month he participated in Scout.com's Los Angeles combine where he was noted as one of the event's standouts at his position.
Maryvale teammate and cornerback Brantwon Bowser, was always believed to be a package deal with Williams, and the newest Sun Devil did nothing to dispel that notion. "He said that he will make a decision next week, and I think he's also gonna choose Arizona State."
