Are you ready for your pre season hoops fix? We have some interesting tid bits for you as follows!
SpartanThunder.com has scooped that your San Jose State Spartans will open the 2005-06 basketball season against the Red Raiders of Texas Tech in Lubbock Texas!
This will be a regional tournament labeled the "Coaches versus cancer" Classic.
Some of the teams participating will be the university of Portland, Texas Tech, San Jose State, and one more team to be announced shortly.
This is a Jimmy V foundation cancer research sponsored event.
The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic features 16 teams from across the country competing for the right to play for the tournament championship.
The event tips off the college basketball season as four of the nation's top-ranked teams host opening-round games.
Teams will battle to advance, where they will compete in the championship rounds of the tournament on national television.
Join them in fighting cancer by being a part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic!
In Spartan hoops recruiting news, it is rumored that Joe Harden, a 6 foot 6 inch, 200 pound wingman from St Mary's high school in Stockton, Ca is being hotly pursued by the Spartans.
Harden has been noted as a player who can do "many things" well.
He is noted to be a jack of all trades, rebounds well, passes the ball phenominally, and leads the Rams on and off the court.
He has received some interest from Cal, Stanford, UCSB, and UOP.

Spring workouts went well and ended in may just before school was let out for the summer break.
The top three players to note were Alex Elam and DJ Brown. They were noted as the best players during the spring workouts.
Tyree Gardner is coming around quickly as well, and recieved kudos from the coaches for his efforts.
The Spartan basketball camp that was held between June 20th thru the 23rd was a big success, and players said that they heard about the camp on Spartanthunder.com!
The second half of the camp is being dubbed "Session Two", and is being held on August 8th thru the 11th, which is Monday through Thursday and between the times of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m
