Where do you get your Spartan Sports Recap?

On Tuesday March 14th, San Jose State's 90.5 FM debuted a new Spartan Sports show, "The Score".

The Score, featuring Sports Broadcaster, Rob Soul is a half hour look at your week in Spartan Sports. Each week Rob will recap the previous weeks events including scores and highlights.

The Score also features prominent interviews with athletes, coaches and more.

I have had a serious interest in sports my whole life, so a show like, "The Score" is a lot of fun to do,said Rob. I am very happy to have the opportunity!

When asked about the show and what gave birth to the idea for it, Rob explained that, there was a need for more thorough coverage of all the Spartans sports teams.

The radio station is a great way to make another connection with fans, since we carry a large number of live sports broadcasts throughout the year.

Basically what "The Score" does is give everyone listening a chance to connect with the school's athletic teams.

We feature a full-bodied recap segment that not only catches people up on the sports like football and basketball, but also includes sports that may not get a lot of mention elsewhere.

Sports like water polo, gymnastics, tennis, and even swimming and diving are covered during each show. These athletes appreciate fans and support just as much as the others do, says Rob.

I hope that "The Score" can promote more interest in our athletic teams. Every show features at least one athlete interview, so fans have the chance to get to know the players a little better. What "The Score" ultimately does is bring the fans and the athletes closer together.

In its debut, the Score featured interviews with Sabrina Murphy, Anetero Uiagalelei and Amber Jackson of the Women's basketball team who had recently wrapped up their season.

With spring football already underway, the most recent show featured Spartans' linebacker Damaja Jones. "The show" has so far also featured highlight reel recaps of the Women's Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament in Reno, as well as several baseball games.

"The Score" is a great addition to our already diverse sports lineup on 90.5 KSJS, said Ryan Davies, Assistant Sports Director of KSJS.

Rob Soul does an excellent job of wrapping up the weeks events and combining them into an action packed 30 minute show. "The Score" is backed by the KSJS Sports Staff who write and contribute for the show.

The contributions of the other writers are a key part to the success of the show, and allow for a bigger variety of sports to be covered, Ryan added.

"The Score" airs Tuesday nights from 5:30 to 6:00 on 90.5 FM KSJS or online at http://www.ksjs.org
