San Jose State senior lefthander David Berner pitched 7-2/3 innings in the Spartans 11-5 win in the first game of Friday's doubleheader
Senior left-hander David Berner improved his record to 6-1 with a 7 and 2/3 inning opening game. He struck out seven and walked three. Sophomore Luke Mazzanti picked up his first save with an inning and a third of work.

The Spartans blew open a 6-5 game one in the bottom of the eight with a two-out, five-run rally.
