A third straight loss out of conference this week puts San Jose State's overall record at 24-11, while UC Santa Barbara improves to 21-10.

In the bottom of the 11th, the host Gauchos put runners at first and second on a hit-by-pitch and a base on balls, both coming with one gone, before Eric Oliver's single toward the line in right field sent Ryan Tregoning racing home with the game-winning run.

Senior left-hander David Berner, making his ninth start of the year, struck out the side in the bottom of the first inning. The Spartans put runners on base via a hit-by-pitch by junior right-hander Joe Gardner in each of the first two frames. In the first, junior shortstop Kyle Bellows was then thrown out trying to steal second to end the inning. In the second, sophomore first baseman Danny Stienstra singled to right to move senior catcher Anthony Aguilera to third, before advancing into scoring position himself on the throw home. Gardner got junior third baseman Corey Valine to fly out to left, however, to keep it scoreless.
