SJSU Baseball is the WAC Regular Season Champ

San Jose State baseball is the Western Athletic Conference regular season champion after a 4-2 win Saturday in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. Junior Max Peterson went six innings to pick up his eighth win of the season.

For the first time since the 2000 season the San Jose State baseball team is the Western Athletic Conference regular season champions. Behind a combined pitching performance by junior Max Peterson and Senior Anthony Vega, the Spartans pulled a rarity this season - they jumped out to a lead and held it. The 4-2 win assures SJSU of the No. 1 seed in the upcoming WAC Tournament starting Thursday in Hawaii.

SJSU is now 37-18 on the season, and 13-7 in the WAC. There are two games remaining in the regular season - the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, and Sunday's final. Before the finale on Sunday the 13 graduating Spartans will be honored.
