Chris Simonton of Trabuco Hill High School in Mission Viejo, Calif., was in the Bay Area last weekend to participate in the Nike Combine held at Stanford University on Saturday. Afterwards he stopped by San Jose State.
"I met with Coach Mayur Chaudhari this past Saturday as suggested by Coach Ken Margerum and had a tour of the football facilities," Simonton said. "I was very impressed with what I saw and could see myself playing at SJSU."
The 5-foot-10, 183-pound Simonton said he is being recruited as an athlete by the Spartans, and plays the slot receiver position for the Mustangs. In his junior season he played in all 12 games and had 51 receptions for 732 yards and six touchdowns. He also recorded nine rushes for 65 yards and two TDs.
Other schools on his list of interests include Hawaii, Washington, Washington State, and Fresno State, and he recently visited Nebraska for their spring game.
