Poppy Livers was Fastest Man at SJSU Camp

Sometimes big things come in small packages, we've all heard that before. In the case of Poppy Livers of St. Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif., it's a fast slot back that comes in a small package. Livers was at the San Jose State Junior Day, and also showed off his stuff at the recent Scout San Francisco Combine.

Slot back Poppy Livers of St. Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif. is a 5-foot-9, 163-pound bundle of speed. At the May 31 San Jose State Junior Day he blazed past the other participants.

"The camp was fun, it tested my agility," Livers said. "I took the fastest-man competition, then we did some one-on-ones where I took advantage of the defensive backs."

However, his performance was not enough to generate an offer from the SJSU staff. Livers keeps a positive attitude.

"They told me to not to worry about my size and to just keep doing what I'm doing," he said. "They said they liked the way I run my routes and the way I control my body."

Livers was also in attendance at the Scout San Francisco Combine held June 6 at Kezar Stadium. During the one-on-one drills there he did show a great ability to shed his defenders, and had some good hands. He was also able to get high in the air for some of the catches. He can get open and is able to make the most of his small frame in getting past DBs.

Planned visits this summer for Livers include Arizona State, Cal Poly SLO, and Sacramento State. He told Scout.com that he is planning on staying close to home.

"I'm a momma's boy so I want to stay in California so I can be close to home," he said.

During his junior year he played in nine games. He racked up 221 yards rushing on 40 carries and scored three touchdowns. On the receiving end he had 16 catches for 139 yards and two TDs.
