Running back Lucky Radley of Agoura Hills (Calif) High School has been around great athletes all his life. His uncle, Curtis Conway, was a first round draft choice out of USC and spent 12 years in the NFL as a wide receiver.
However, one member of the family is truly The Greatest.
"My uncle Curtis married Laila Ali, daughter of Muhammad Ali," Radley said. "I've met him a couple times, he's a wonderful person."
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Radley is continuing the athletic tradition of his family. He reports offers from Eastern Michigan, Utah State, San Diego State, Arizona, and Iowa State. He is confident of soon receiving two more.
"Fresno State and Nevada are close to offering," he said. "I just talked to Nevada and they seem ready to send me an offer."
The talented running back also has a close relationship with a certain San Jose State coach. Though the Spartans haven't offered, they are keeping a close eye on Radley.
"Coach [Charles] Nash coached both my older brothers in high school," Radley said. "I know if I go to that school I'll be in good hands. My mom and coach Nash have a great relationship too. They've all told me nothing but good things about him since I was a kid."
One of the topics of conversation between Radley and Nash is track. Radley said he ran the 100 and 200 meter events, and his the anchor leg on the 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams.
"Coach Nash said they are taking things slow with me," Radley said. "They want to see how I do my senior year. If San Jose State offers I would definitely visit them."
Nash isn't the only college coach for whom Radley has fondness. His offer from Eastern Michigan came from former Michigan and Oakland Raider running back great Tyrone Wheatley.
"I talk to coach Wheatley a couple times a week," Radley said. "My brother wore his jersey number in high school."
Radley said he will be heading to Colorado this weekend for their one-day camp on Friday, followed by a Nike Combine on Saturday. He said he will also be attending the B2G Elite Camp, and a camp put on by his cousin Curtis and Eric Kramer.
