Quick Update on QB Greg Panelli

The last time Inside Sparta spoke with quarterback Greg Panelli of Modesto (Calif) Junior College he was waiting on an offer from the University of Cincinnati, with San Jose State as option No. 2. We spoke with him again on Sunday to see if the Bearcats and come through, and if SJSU was still on his radar

The University of Cincinnati was the team to beat for the services of quarterback Greg Panelli. The Modesto (Calif) Junior College signal caller was optimistic the Bearcats would come through. However, economic matters took over and UC went with a local high school player - Dominique Brown of Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati.

"Shortly after we spoke last my coach called Cincinnati and they told him they were looking at a local quarterback," Panelli said. "They decided to go with him because they could pay in-state tuition."

San Jose State is now the No. 1 choice for Panelli, and he is planning on visiting the SJSU campus in the near future to discuss a potential offer from the Spartan staff.

"I am busy this weekend," he said. "But I am going to head over to San Jose soon to see the coaches and find out if they are still interested."

Panelli said he hasn't heard from the SJSU staff since the evaluation period.
