Offensive lineman Colin Tanigawa of Loyola High School in Los Angeles recently returned from an unofficial visit to the University of Washington, during which he considered committing. However, the Huskies didn't get a verbal pledge, but are solidly in the lead.
"Washington definitely leads," Tanigawa said. "I still need to think about it but I'd like to commit before the season starts."
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Tanigawa plays both center and guard. Along with Washington his offer list includes Washington State, Arizona State, Iowa State, and now San Jose State.
"I got the offer from SJSU in the mail last week," he said. "I don't know much about them but I will be checking them out."
Tanigwa said he plans on visiting Nebraska and ASU during the summer, but isn't sure about other visits. While he wants to commit to a school before the season starts, his recruiting won't necessarily end.
"I may take other visits just to make sure I'm making the right decision," he said.
He reports a 2.7 grade-point-average and wants to major in business. He said he took the SAT in June 13 and will take the ACT on July 6.
