Cody Galea is a 6-foot-3, 230-pound middle linebacker from Franklin High School in Elk Grove, Calif., near Sacramento. He has three offers on the table.
"I still have the three from Nevada, Sacramento State, and UC Davis," he said. "I really like Nevada, they are an up-and-coming program that has been to four bowls in the last five years. I went to their camp for the whole week."
Other schools at the top of the list for Galea include Washington, UCLA, UNLV, Colorado State, and Oregon State.
Galea was in attendance at the rising seniors camp at San Jose State and has been in regular contact with SJSU's Terry Malley.
"I talked to him [Malley] recently and he said they're keeping an eye on me and want to see how the season goes," Galea said. "He told me they are only going to offer players they really want."
With the scholarship limitations facing SJSU as a result of APR sanctions - only 21 scholarships are available this season - that approach is pragmatic.
Galea said that academics and the level of competitiveness are what he's most looking for in a school. He said he's looking to major in a business-related field.
In his junior season he recorded 134 tackles, 79 of which were solo. He had four sacks and 17 pressures, and forced four interceptions. He added that he'd like to make his decision sometime during the season, but is in no hurry.
