8/15 Practice Quick Hitters

It was another beautiful warm day that awaited the San Jose State football team on the second Saturday of the 2009 fall camp. Inside Sparta brings you this segment of Quick Hitters which includes updates on the status of Terrance Williams along with other players. Also, the Spartans may have a new tight end.

Saturday's practice was originally scheduled to be in full pads but it was decided to go in helmets and jersey's. However, that didn't inhibit the intensity of the session. Today's workout began on the Spartan practice field, then moved to Spartan Stadium. Here are some Quick Hitters on the day.

  • Senior tight end Terrance Williams may be lost for the season, according to San Jose State head coach Dick Tomey. He reportedly has a high ankle sprain and may have some ligament damage. Further tests will be conducted before a final determination is made
  • Junior safety Jay Atkins is out for the year with a knee injury
  • Coach Tomey said 30 players have injuries of some kind
  • Special Teams received a lot of work today
  • Freshman Ronnie Yell was receiving kickoffs, along with senior Kevin Jurovich
  • Jurovich added after practice that Yell has been impressive during camp
  • The team has this night off as well as Sunday
