RB Derek Muaava Commits to SJSU

Although running back Derek Muaaava of Independence High School is sidelined for the year with a knee injury, San Jose State told him they will still honor their offer, and he committed to the Spartans on Saturday.

Running back Derek Muaava of Independence High School underwent knee surgery today, and will miss the entire season as he recovers. However, he was told that the offer extended from San Jose State will be honored and he committed to the Spartans on Saturday before the Utah game, according to the San Jose Mercury News

"I was so excited when I heard that San Jose State still wanted me to play there," Muaava said. "It's definitely frustrating to miss my senior year, but now I have to worry about the bigger picture and get ready to play college ball."

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Muaava also had an offer from Saturday's SJSU opponent - Utah.
