All together there are over 30 members of the group representing a diverse set of audiences.
Enthusiasm is high amongst the group.
We continued to make excellent progress on our mission – helping increase attendance at Spartan Football games.
The group's first meeting in late December focused on determining our charter and hearing Coach Hill share his vision for the program. The second meeting was focused on brainstorming ideas to impact attendance.
And this third meeting was about organizing the group, prioritizing and beginning implementation. Highlights of the meeting include:
- The overall group was broken into two units:
-Marketing and Promotions (how to get people TO the games) and Game Experience (how to get them to enjoy the experience and come BACK once they've been). The majority of the time was spent in group breakouts as we prioritized ideas, shaped plans, determined the structure of each unit and more. There are lots of great ideas but with a realistic sense of what the group can accomplish.
- Leadership of the Spartan Army was selected. Chris Taylor (that's me) was chosen as the main person in command with Gayle Kludt in the number two slot. Bob Cantu will drive the membership efforts of the Army. (Bob is also the founder of this group, conceiving of the idea and leading the effort to make it a reality.) Jane Yasukawa was picked to drive the Game Experience unit and Dale Warfel was selected to drive the Marketing and Promotions Unit. We're rolling!
- The Army is going to create website content that will be incorporated into a couple existing sites – www.spartanthunder.com and www.coachfitzhill.com – so people can learn more about us and our efforts on an ongoing basis.
- A reminder for everyone to attend the Signing Party on February 5th at Dave & Buster's. The football office has more information for those interested.
We need you!

The more members we have means the more we can accomplish. Please help and join today. It doesn't matter if you live inside Spartan Stadium or 10,000 miles away, you can participate and make a difference.
Our next meeting is Monday, February 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Simpkins Center next to the stadium.
Please join us.
