When Mike MacIntyre took over as San Jose State head football coach in late 2009, nobody knew much about him or how he would do recruiting kids from California, since he was from the Deep South. Those questions were answered in mid-January when a slew of prospect made their verbal pledges to play for MacIntyre and SJSU. One of those early commitments came from David Peterson of East Valley High School in Redlands, Calif.
What made this commitment extra special is that the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Peterson chose the Spartans over Nevada and San Diego State, schools that SJSU rarely beat for recruits in the past.
It appears Coach Mac and crew chose well as Peterson told Inside Sparta that he will be named to the Second Team All-State team by CalHi Sports.
While the accolades are very nice and certainly deserving, the one thing Spartan fans want to know is will he sign with the team on Feb. 3?
"Yes sir, that I am," he said.
