A New QB Entering the Picture for SJSU

The San Jose State staff has one quarterback in school, and one high school commitment at the quarterback position. However, the Spartan staff may be looking to take one more QB from the prep ranks, and after the commitment to Nevada of Cody Fajardo, they look to be evaluating this SoCal talent.

With Matt Faulkner already enrolled and attending classes, and Blake Jurich of Scotts Valley High School committed to sign on Feb. 3, the San Jose State football staff may be looking to take another prep quarterback for the recruiting class of 2010. One option, Cody Fajardo of Servite, recently pledged to Nevada. However, the SJSU staff began recently looking at another big slinger while waiting to see what Fajardo was going to do.

"They started talking to me a couple of weeks ago," Chad Dashnaw of Narbonne High School in Lomita, Calif., said. "They told me they wanted to see what Fajardo was going to do, and now with him going to Nevada I'm hoping they'll look at me."

Dashnaw said he hasn't yet received any offers yet.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Dashnaw is now on the campus of Portland State, where he is taking an official visit. The Vikings are also looking at other options before offering Dashnaw.

Dashnaw said he took an unofficial visit to the SJSU campus in the spring of 2009. With the recent renewed interest there wasn't time to schedule an official visit.

"I've been talking to new coach Hugh Freeze and I really like him a lot," Dashnaw said. "We'll see what happens.

Be sure to attend the Signing Day Event on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 6:00 at the Barrett Ballroom in the Student Union on the campus of San Jose State University.
