Spartans Pick Up an OL Commitment

The commitments are starting to roll in now after the final recruiting weekend for the Class of 2010. The San Jose State staff offered this big offensive lineman during the visit, and he let them know this evening that he will accept and become a Spartan.

The San Jose State coaching staff picked up commitment No. 20 this evening when an offensive lineman otherwise off the radar visited SJSU over the weekend, and received an offer.

Keith Bendixen of St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria, Calif., accepted Coach Mike MacIntyre's offer of a scholarship to play football for his Spartans.

"I just loved it up there, the people were great and I felt really comfortable," Bendixen said. "They want me to play left tackle but I'll probably redshirt my first year and be ready to play for championships after that."

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Bendixen reports an offer from Weber State in Utah, and visited the Football Championship Subdivision school last weekend. After the offer from SJSU he wanted to take some time to consider both schools, but picked the Football Bowl Championship school.

"It's a dream come true," he said. "I've worked my whole career for this and now it's happening. I'm so happy."

Bendixen said he wants to major in kinesiology and that the program at SJSU fits right into his plans. He is fully qualified academically.

The big man listed speed and quickness as his greatest asset as a lineman, attributes that will come in handy in offensive coordinator Hugh Freeze's no-huddle offense.
