It's McMullin Time

It's Signing Day Eve and one of the biggest targets remaining for San Jose State is offensive lineman Jessy McMullin of Iowa Western Community College. He spoke on Monday with Inside Sparta. He's down to a final two. Find out if the Spartans made the cut.

San Jose State football doesn't often go outside the borders of California seeking football talent. The state is a rich and fertile ground for top shelf football players, plus the cost involved is often prohibitive. However, the Spartan staff is doing just that in reaching out to the Midwest in hopes of landing offensive lineman Jessy McMullin of Iowa Western Community College. McMullin spoke on Monday with Inside Sparta he is nearing a decision between two schools.

"I like San Jose State because they are (Football Bowl Championship level) and I want to play with the big boys," he said. "I like Southern Illinois because they are close to home."

Whie National Signing Day tomorrow is the first opportunity for high school prospects to sign their Letters of Intent, junior college players are under no such restrictions. However, McMullin is ready to end the process.

"I'm going to decide (on Tuesday)," he said. "I'll let the coaches know then."

One other suitor rumored to be making an attempted comeback for McMullin is Louisiana Tech. Are the Bulldogs in the picture?

"They sure are trying," he said. "But I'm not really interested."

Stay tuned to Inside Sparta for McMullin's announcement.
