Is Ruben almost Ready?

Ruben Guillandeaux, the 6-foot-5, 175 pound Guard has a final list of six schools.

Ruben Guillandeaux, the 6-foot-5, 175 pound combo guard from St. Patrick's High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, has a final list of six major schools. A native of Brooklyn, Guillandeaux is a smooth combo guard with a strong feel for the game. He's a versatile PG/SG who can cause major mismatch problems for teams defending him. Ruben realizes that he needs to work on strength and conditioning if he is going to excel at the next level. Ruben is waiting for the results from his SAT's but assured me he should not have a problem Qualifying.

Ruben told me he is down to a final six of URI, LaSalle, SHU, UCF, Wash State, and USC. What he is looking for in a college is an up tempo style of play and being comfortable with the players and staff. Distance will not play a factor in Ruben's decision. He has already visited SHU, LaSalle, and URI. Tomorrow he leaves for the left coast for a visit to USC where he will get to take in the USC vs. Washington State football game.

Ruben got to take in Seton Hall's Madness Before Midnight and had a great time. He told me that he knew freshman Paul Gause prior to his visit and that he is a big-time scorer. Assistant coach John Dunne is recruiting him from Seton Hall.

Ruben told me that all six schools are recruiting him as a point guard, which I found interesting because Seton Hall already has Malcolm Grant. Ruben said that assistant coach Ashley Howard from LaSalle is whom he has the best relationship with so it did come as a surprise when he told me that LaSalle leads for his services right now. Ruben did say that he thinks he might be done with his visits after this weekend and be ready to make a decision very soon.

Shake's take- Doesn't sound good for the Pirates with Guillandeaux but if he wants to play PG he might not be a good fit for SHU with Grant already in the fold.
