Seton Hall vs. Caldwell College Preview

The Gonzo Era Officially starts Saturday in the Swamp! Led by high scoring guard Jamar Nutter and highly recruited point guard Eugene Harvey the Pirates look to start Gonzo's Seton Hall career with a big W.

The Seton Hall Pirates open up their season tomorrow afternoon at the Meadowlands against Caldwell College. The Pirates will look to garnish a victory for Coach Bobby Gonzalez in his Pirate debut. Jamar Nutter will pose the threat as the teams leading scorer and prized freshman Eugene Harvey will serve as the playmaker and will be given the reigns to steer and control the Pirate ship.

Caldwell College will have some familiar faces on their sideline. Coaches Bruce Hamburger and Dave DeFerrari are very familiar with the Pirate program. Caldwell College has seven returnees from last year's squad. Look for senior guard Jean Georges and junior forward Manny Perez to anchor the Cougars. Georges averaged 17.3 point per game for the Cougars. Caldwell College shouldn't pose much of a threat for Seton Hall, but remember it's the season opener.

At times do not be shocked to see sloppy play and Caldwell College give Seton Hall fits in the beginning. I expect Caldwell to start of strong because Bruce Hamburger may be one of the best scouts in the country, so expect Caldwell to be very prepared in all aspects of their game plan. As the game goes on, I expect to see Seton Hall shake off some early jitters and become more comfortable playing together. I believe Seton Hall will outmuscle and physically wear down Caldwell College.

I expect Seton Hall to play a lot of up tempo basketball, and coast in the second half to an easy victory. I predict the Pirates defeat the Cougars 86-64, giving Coach Bobby Gonzalez and staff their first victory of their Pirate careers.
