Tampa Plant CB Looking For His Next Home

Tampa Plant is consistently one of the top Division 1 talent producing schools in Florida. Therefore, it's surprising that a top-flight cornerback on this team has flown under the radar for so long, but that is the case for Eric Patterson.

Eric Patterson, who has been described as the best coverage cornerback in a county overflowing with Division 1 players, has seen his recruitment surge in recent days. Patterson, with his hand-timed 4.5 speed and superior skills, currently has offers from South Alabama, Youngstown State and Ohio, but other powers such as West Virginia, Michigan and Tennessee have gotten involved recently.

"Youngstown State stands out to me because they have shown me much love," said Patterson. "South Alabama is a good school that looks nice and might be a good fit. My friend TJ Glover plays there and he calls me every day to tell me to go there."

Patterson's Plant High School is currently in the playoffs and is seeking another state title. Because of this, and the way the recruiting cycle works, he will probably wait until January before choosing a college. He is in the process of setting up visits to South Alabama and West Virginia after the conclusion of the season.

Big decisions are ahead for the young man, but he feels where ever he ends up that program will have gotten themselves a steal.

"I think I'm the best cornerback in my county," he said. "I think I'm actually the best in Florida but I haven't gotten the hype that the others have."

Now that he is officially on the radar, expect that hype to finally find Eric Patterson.
