Lady Jags Add Two

With the loss of stalwarts Vanessa Simmons, Siedah Banks, Brittany Rutledge and Christian Shelter, four of the top seven scorers from the 2010-2011 team, Coach Rick Pietri needed to restock the cupboard in Mobile. With four new players now signed, he hopes that task is nearly done.

In the fall signing period the Lady Jags signed guard Breanna Hall of Mesquite Horn. The 5'8" Hall was ranked the 64th best player in Texas by premierbaketballreport.com. She joined Amanda Toliver is a 5'6" guard for Minor High School in Birmingham in helping rebuild the USA backcourt. As a senior her team went 23-6 and she averaged 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2 steals per game.

To these two players Pietri has added guards Camille Reynolds and Rachel Cumbo.

Reynolds is a combo guard from North Idaho College who can play the one or two. In helping North Idaho to the Junior College National Championship, Reynolds averaged 10.3 points, 2.5 rebounds 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Her solid three point shooting (39%) and free throw shooting (73%) should endear her to the USA coaching staff.

Cumbo is a basketball legacy of sorts as her father played for USA men's basketball coach Ronnie Arrow at San Jacinto Junior College in the 80's. This Cumbo is a 5'9" guard for John Horn High School in Mesquite, Texas. For her 26-7 team she averaged 14.7 points, 5.0 rebounds. 2.5 assists and 3.1 steals per game. Her efforts earned her first team all-district honors.

While this group of new players should go a long way towards shoring up next year's roster, Coach Pietri hopes to add one more in the spring signing period. JagsJungle.com will keep you posted on any new additions.
