Foster Visits USA

Steven Foster, a three-star prospect who is rapidly climbing in the rankings, committed to South Alabama a few months ago, but Duke is now on the scene and recruiting him very intently. Foster was in Mobile this weekend for a visit and told JagsJungle.com the latest concerning his decision.

Although USA was hosting a two-day camp while he was there, Foster did not participate. We was there to tour the campus and get a chance to get a feel for how the staff coaches. While he communicates regularly via Facebook and phone with offensive line coach John Turner and wide receiver coach Ron Antoine, who is the coach responsible for his recruiting, he was glad to get to spend some time with them in-person. So, how does he feel about the Jags versus Duke after this weekend?

"I'm leaning more towards South Alabama," said Foster. "I'm about 97% sure. Duke is kind of too far away, even though they are like an Ivy League school. Right now South Alabama is number one on my list. They were the first school to offer me. I think I made a good choice by going ahead and committing. I am planning on taking other visits but I've already camped at most of the places I'm going to visit (and still chose USA).

Foster was enthusiastic when explaining why he thinks so highly of South Alabama.

"It's a just a family-type atmosphere," he said. "Everyone seems to play for each other and coach for each other. The coaches, they're a group of winners. If you're around football, you can sit in a room with someone or shake their hand and know they're a winner. And that's what you can tell just about everyone of their coaches. Joey Jones, Coach Turner, Coach (Bryant) Vincent, Coach Antoine, all of those coaches are like that. I love that about them."

With the needs on the offensive line next year and the talent that Foster could bring to the Jags, there is certainly a lot of playing time available for him next year. Foster could be one of the big reasons that the USA coaches stay winners.
