Florida Athlete Impressed by USA

The final weekend before practices begin was a busy one for South Alabama. Recruits from across the southeast made visits to Mobile and many came away very impressed. JagsJungle.com caught up with Javonte Sneed of Florida's Armwood High School after his experience visiting USA.

Part of the uber-talented Armwood High School squad, Javonte Sneed nevertheless stands out when he takes the field. Sneed was forced to sit out a large portion of Armwood's games last year after transferring from a nearby high school, but still managed to accumulate 320 yards receiving in that limited time. To do so while sharing the field with all-everything running back Matt Jones (a Florida commit) really shows his impact.

Sneed was part of a group of Tampa-area athletes that made the trip to Mobile this past weekend and he formed a quick, favorable impression.

"I loved it," Sneed said via text. "I felt at home the minute I stepped inside that field house."

Sneed said that the USA staff would use him in a similar fashion to another Tampa athlete that was part of the team last season, T.J. Glover. Like Glover, Sneed could contribute as both a wide receiver and running back on offense and perhaps as a returner on special teams as well.

After this weekend's events, Sneed has elevated USA to the top of his list, followed by UAB and North Texas. It may be that good news is on it's way to the Jags as Sneed has indicated that he would like to make his decision sooner rather than later.

Count on JagsJungle.com to be there to bring that update and many more as the year wears on.
