Florida Safety Has USA Interest

South Alabama's recruiting is heating up, particularly in the Sunshine State. Already boasting 10 commitments, the Jags have secured pledges from two Floridians and are in pursuit of several more. Jordan Davis is one such player and recently visited the Mobile campus.

Safety Jordan Davis, at 6'1" 193lbs, is a physical presence for the Alonso Ravens, but he has also shown good awareness and skills as a pass defender. In his junior year Davis compiled 92 tackles, two interceptions and nine passes defensed as well as causing a fumble and blocking a field goal. He recently took a visit to the USA campus and had a chance to form some impressions.

"Mobile is a really nice city," he said. "It kinda put me in mind of Tampa little bit, with the hotels and malls and everything. I liked it and enjoyed it a lot. The campus was really nice. I saw all the renovations that were in progress and I know they have a lot of plans for the programs."

Davis has offers from Youngstown State, Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois, UAB, UMass, FIU and North Texas as well as interest from Temple and Troy. After his visit to South Alabama he received an offer there as well. He had this to say about where the Jags rank among his list of suitors.

"They're definitely up there among my top schools. Especially since I've actually visited the school and I've gotten a feel for where I would be. Since I would be spending a few years of my life there I'd want to make sure that I'm in a comfortable environment. I liked all the coaching staff and I met some of the players. Everybody was cool over there. The visit definitely boosted them up."

Davis doesn't plan on making his decision soon as he has yet to visit most of his offering schools. Right now he will focus on having a successful senior season and learning more about his college options.
