A 6'2" 190lb safety, DeVonta Staples seems to be one of the most underrated players in Alabama this year. As a junior, he had 115 tackles, forced two fumbles and recorded an interception, while also returning a kickoff for a touchdown.
Staples currently has offers from Kentucky, Illinois, Marshall, South Alabama and UAB. When asked to rank them, he had this response:
"Right now I really like Kentucky, Illinois and South Alabama, but I have a few more favorites," he said. "The favorites I don't have offers from are Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Georgia."
Staples could see himself making a commitment as soon as the fourth week of the high school season.
The talented defensive back will be one to keep an eye on in the near future as his decision looms nearer.
"I really like two schools that I think I could commit to right now," he said. "Kentucky and South Alabama, and Illinois is still in the mix too."
