Jags Bag Florida Linebacker

The South Alabama Jaguars have definitely made their presence known in Florida when it comes to recruiting. Players like starting quarterback CJ Bennett and running back JJ Keels hail from the Sunshine State and now another fellow Floridian will be joining them.

"Recruiting is going great," said Davion Stuarts. "I committed to South Alabama last Saturday."

Stuarts, a fast and physical defender, picked USA over written offers from Middle Tennessee and Central Florida as well as interest from Iowa State, Tennessee and Miami.

The standout linebacker for 5-1 Charlotte High School stands at 5'11" and has bulked up to 215lbs. His impressive speed has led to him also spending time at running back but it is on defense, where he has 64 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception this season, that he is expected to play at South Alabama. The coaches at USA have told him that they believe he'll be able to contribute as a true freshman at the outside linebacker position.

When asked about his decision, Stuarts had this to say:

"I picked South Alabama because they are a growing school. They have a great team and great coaches. When I went on visit I very much liked the atmosphere and the environment. They have a great campus. I think it's very special there."

A special place is about to gain a special player as Stuarts will be joining the program just in time to take part in their transition to FBS football. With athletes of his caliber that transition will certainly be easier.
