"I really like Southern Miss," Carlos McCants told JagsJungle.com from his home in Mobile, (Ala.).
"I really enjoyed the camp up there, it went real good. I talked to all the coaches while I was there, and I liked them as well."
"Southern Miss is going to run the spread offense this year, and that's what we run at my high school. So, I feel comfortable in that offense."
"The coaches are real cool. They told me to wait and make sure that Southern Miss is the place for me," McCants stated.
Carlos has never denied the fact he grew up a huge fan of the Auburn Tigers, and until recently he would have jumped at the opportunity to play for the Tigers.
"If Auburn were to offer me it would be a hard decision for me. I really like everything about Southern Miss," he explained.
"I still have offers from South Alabama, and Arkansas State, and they're good schools, but I'm going to have to say that Southern Miss is ahead of everyone, right now."
Carlos has other schools interested in his skills at the wide receiver position.
"South Alabama is still recruiting me pretty hard, along with Louisiana Tech. I believe my next offer will come from La. Tech," he said.
"I also still hear from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, and UAB."
While McCants is staying busy with recruiting, he is also breaking in a new head football coach at Le Flore High School.
"Coach Christopher Raymond is our new coach. He is real good. He came in with a positive attitude, and we all became close with him from the beginning. We are running the spread, and he is doing a real good job."
"We play Blount High School in the season opener, and they're always good on defense. I think it will be a very good game with Kinderick [Bent] returning at quarterback, and all three starting wide receivers returning for us. I think we should have a good year," Carlos McCants concluded.
