As head coach Steve Spurrier took the podium yesterday, there was one question on everyone's minds: 'the cookie'. Via Twitter, a cookie-cake went viral that had been brought to a function where recruits were present. The NCAA found 22 minor violations against the Gamecocks, but as Spurrier notes, South Carolina turns themselves in for everything.
"Well, we turn ourselves in for everything, and it's interesting, I thought I read where somebody had thought a whole bunch of violations. We weren't accused of being guilty of extra benefits," the Old Ball Coach said.
As usually everything goes in the media, certain situations are vamped to an entirely different level, but the 10-year Gamecocks coach said their conditions have been accepted thus far.
'Admitted that maybe it wasn't right and docked ourselves of some scholarships, as you know. But, the infraction committee never said we were guilty of any of that stuff, and they just accepted our reduced scholarships." "Just to clear up that little situation," Spurrier said.
