Johnson talks visit

In-state forward Brice Johnson recently visited Columbia, S.C. for the football game against Furman. Gamecock Anthem caught up with the 2012 recruit to talk about the visit.

On Saturday, Brice Johnson made his way down to the South Carolina campus to take in the football game against Furman.

It was time that the Edisto High standout got to take in with the Gamecocks coaching staff.

"We went through the locker rooms and the practice facilities and the coaches' offices," he said. "It was pretty nice. It's different. Most other schools (offices) aren't as big. Well, it's not bigger, just nicer."

Last week, the 6-foot-9 big man stated that he had offers from South Carolina, Clemson and Georgia Southern.

As far as the Gamecocks go, Johnson said that assistant coach Mike Boynton is the one that has been recruiting him

"Coach Mike Boynton showed me around," he said. "Me and him are real cool."

With him bonding with the coaches and being impressed by the facilities, Johnson reflected on the overall visit.

"Overall, it was a great visit," he said. "Bad part about it was they played Furman. It was nice, though.

"They aren't really going to recruit you in the wrong way. You know they are always going to be there for you."

Johnson also admitted that South Carolina has climbed his list a little bit.

"They left a great impression," he said.
