Dixon Impressed with Win Over Bama

South Pointe High School (Rock Hill, SC) defensive end Gerald Dixon was on hand for South Carolina's landmark win against the number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and says the Gamecock's performance certainly made an impression on him he won't forget.

Dixon said he had been looking forward to going to South Carolina's game with Alabama and shared some of his thoughts about the game.

"I was there. I thought it was going to be a good game from the start and I certainly wasn't disappointed", Dixon said. "That's probably the best game I've ever been to in my entire life. South Carolina proved they could play with anybody and beat anybody by beating Alabama"

When asked if he stayed around to enjoy any of the post game celebration Dixon said, "I didn't stay too long. I left fairly soon after the game was over, but we were having a great time."

When asked how much communication he had with other recruits at the game Dixon said, "I didn't really get a chance to talk to a lot of the other recruits, but I could tell they were having a good time. The whole place was going crazy, even all the recruits who were visiting."

Dixon says he is trying to narrow down the schools he is focusing on with his recruitment.

"South Carolina, Auburn, North Carolina State, and Arkansas are the schools I'm most the most interested in at the moment", Dixon said.

The Rock Hill, SC prospect currently plays defensive end opposite of the nation's top ranked prospect in Jadeveon Clowney for his South Pointe high school team. Dixon confirmed that that's the position most schools seem to be recruiting him for at the collegiate level.

"Most of the schools are recruiting me as a defensive end", explained Dixon. "The only school recruiting me at another position is Auburn and they are recruiting me as a defensive tackle."

Like most prospects heading into their senior year, Dixon said he had one main thing he'd been working hard at getting better at this season.

"I've mostly been working on getting better at rushing the passer", said Dixon. "I love rushing the passer and getting in the backfield and making plays."

It appears those who are waiting on a decision from Dixon are going to have to wait just a little bit longer. Dixon said, "I plan to make my decision after the playoffs are over this year."

When asked if the Gamecocks were in the lead for his services Dixon revealed, "South Carolina is up there, I like a lot of things about South Carolina."

The Gamecocks are currently recruiting several other prospects from the Rock Hill area of South Carolina as well including Dixon's brother Gerald Dixon, Roderick Byers and Clowney.

When asked if he would like to be able to play with those guys in college Dixon said, "Yeah, I'd like to play with my brother, Jadeveon, and Roderick Byers. We'll just have to see how things work out, but we have definitely talked about doing that. We'll just have to wait and see."
