WBB Recap: Gamecocks Move On

The South Carolina women's basketball team advanced to the second round of the SEC Women's Tournament in Nashville, TN with a 62-50 victory over Ole Miss. The Gamecocks advanced to take on the #4 seeded Georgia Bulldogs Friday night at 7:30 P.M. for a spot in Saturday's semi-finals.

Ieasia Walker paced eight South Carolina scorers with 15 points to lead the Gamecock women's basketball team to a 62-50 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels Thursday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. With the win, Carolina avenged a 73-70 loss to the Rebels in last year's first round match-up and will advance to take on Georgia Friday night in the second round at 7:30 P.M.

Despite being out-rebounded on the offensive end, 23-12,Carolina shot 43% from the floor and shot 15-for-26 (58%) from the free throw line, while limiting the Rebels to only 27% shooting from the field.

Markeshia Grant added 13 points for Carolina and Charenee Stephens and Jewel May scored eight apiece. Valencia McFarland led the Rebels with 14 points and Nikki Byrd added 13.
