Gamecocks practice Tuesday

South Carolina participated in its 14th practice of the spring Tuesday afternoon in windy conditions at the Bluff Road practice fields. The light workout - which took place in pads and shorts - lasted a little over an hour and a half.

The Gamecocks went through a typical shorts workout with work on fundamentals by position followed by the seven-on-seven pass skeleton and finally a short full eleven-on-eleven session.

The search to solidify that boundary safety position continues as Jimmy Legree, who has enjoyed a strong spring at cornerback, worked at safety. Legree appeared to work at free safety and boundary safety at times.

With Legree working at safety, freshman Martay Mattox switched from field safety back to cornerback where started the spring.

Despite extremely windy conditions, quarterbacks Connor Shaw, Dylan Thompson and Andrew Clifford each had solid practices.

The Gamecocks finished up practice by working on "Hail Mary" end-of-game situations including a double pass that Melvin Ingram heaved towards the end zone before the wind blew it back 15 yards short.

There were no media availability following practice.

South Carolina will have its 15th and final spring practice Thursday at 4 p.m. Coaches and players will be available to the media after that practice.
