There are still two offers for Calhoun County (SC) athlete Phillip Merling, but he is also looking at a third.
"South Carolina and Clemson have offered, plus Georgia is up there," says the 6-foot-6, 240 pounder. "Those three are my top three."
Merling could play on either side of the ball, and both offering schools have stated different positions.
"South Carolina wants me as a defensive end and Clemson offered as a tight end. I am not sure where Georgia wants me to play. They are just sending regular mail."
The All-Region defensive end has several aspects of the colleges for which he will look while visiting schools this summer.
"I want to see how the weightlifting programs are, the campus, and see what the schools can do for me off the field, academically."
Merling plans to major in business management.
